Easter Weekend at Home

Although the COVID-19 virus has put a pause on most of our usual social gatherings this Easter weekend, you and your family can still enjoy all of the fun and interactive traditions the holiday has to offer. Most of these materials can already be found at home so no need to make any additional trips out to the store! Here is how we are spending our Easter weekend at home in #quarantine.

Easter Egg Dye

A classic family easter activity for everyone in the household. Hard boil some eggs, use the egg carton as a stand for painting/drying and storage! If you don’t have an Easter egg dye kit at home you can mix your own colours using water and white vinegar and strained juices from naturally coloured foods like beets, purple cabbage, blueberries, raspberries and onion skins. Classic food colouring dyes or paints also work great.

Easter Egg Alternative Scavenger Hunt

Go beyond standard egg painting and find other unused or disposable items you and the kids can paint! First start by sending everyone on a hunt around the home to find oval shaped objects to decorate instead of eggs. Things like circular rocks, old toys or footballs are perfect alternatives. Or find something unique to paint classic Easter egg zig-zag designs on like paper rolls, or other recycleable products.. This way you can keep them as keepsakes much longer than an old hard boiled egg!

Zoom Gatherings

The holidays are about family, and being quarantined at home makes visiting and practising old traditions a bit difficult. However, with the help of current technology and easy to use apps - you can still spend quality time with the people you love.

Apps like Zoom, FaceTime, Skype and others make visiting with family and friends seamless and easy. Even the least-techy person in your group can figure out how to connect. You and your loved ones can sign up for a FREE Zoom account here .

Make Easter Treats

What’s Easter without the sweets! Even if you haven’t been able to get out for baking ingredients such as flour, eggs, milk etc.. We've linked a great minimal ingredient vegan cookies recipe here so you can all decorate and enjoy.

If you don't have decorating icing, add a few drops of food dye to white icing, put it in a sealable bag and snip off the corner to make your own piping bag.
